Walkthrough from the first jump onward

Once food, power and waste handling are stable, progress toward exploration, off-whale settlements and sustained shipping. This is a spoiler-light progression outline based on official sources, not a tested chapter-by-chapter solution or a guide to every ending. For the initial build order, use the beginner guide.

Stages the guide and the studio blog name

  1. Stabilize Kewa’s back: food, power, a soot plan. Leaving with a toxic patch already forming makes the purple health state your first off-world problem.
  2. Follow the current Goals panel toward travel and the Galaxy Map. Dev Blog #28 explains that the map initially reveals only part of the galaxy; investigate objects with a Scout Ship to identify useful planets and other destinations.
  3. Prepare settlement and shipping before landing. Dev Blog #20 describes the Space Ship Builder as the source of Scout and Trade Ships, not a building unlocked after you already finish scouting. It describes the Settlement Ship separately as an upgrade of the Home Spaceship. Follow the current upgrade panel for requirements; no population threshold is asserted here.
  4. Supply the new settlement before depending on its exports. The studio’s shipping explanation distinguishes manual deliveries for finite or urgent requests from automated shipping for continuing supplies. Check both ends of the route and available inputs; automation is not proof that a resource chain is self-sufficient.
  5. Use discoveries to expand the production chain. Dev Blog #28 describes habitable planets with resources unavailable on Kewa in Story Mode. Sandbox settings can change resource availability, so this is not a universal map or a fixed unlock order for every mode.
  6. Continue with the in-game goals and Kewa’s condition. The studio’s 1.0 announcement promises a full story, additional planets and complex endgame buildings, but does not provide a public step-by-step ending solution or a completion-time target.

Sources: Dev Blog #28, Settleable Planets, Dev Blog #20, Space Ships and Shipping, and the 1.0 announcement. The shipping article is a pre-release design explanation, not a certification of unchanged 1.0 capacities, costs or timing. Read the current ship and port panels for those values.

Stalls that show up after the opening

  • Obstructium removal: player threads describe a Reformer supplied with lasers and batteries but blocked by atmosphere at the target. Those observations are not an official recipe or guaranteed recovery.
  • A Research Facility that is mid-research cannot be moved after Hotfix #3. Plan the footprint first.
  • Automated trading and Asteroid Mine report: a player reports save corruption after traveling with an Asteroid Ship. This is not a reproduced universal automation bug, and manual shipping is not a proven repair. Keep separate milestone saves.
  • Kewa dialogue that overlaps can freeze progress. Hotfix #3 fixed new cases; already broken saves stay broken. Test is the Whale Communicator with an active talk and no choices.
