People, price, and the demo

The official store pages list single-player, not co-op. The full game is a paid 1.0 release; the free demo has separate saves that cannot transfer. An eligible paid Game Pass subscription is another access route, not a free permanent copy. Check the subscription and device limits on the Game Pass page.

Reviews and setting

The Steam review API, using all languages and all purchase types, returned 127 reviews on 19 October 2026: 94 positive, 33 negative, approximately 74% positive, labeled Mostly Positive. The appdetails recommendations.total field uses a different count. The press kit describes a non-violent community setting; the review roundup separates written reviews, editorial advice and this dated user-rating snapshot.

Questions

Is Beyond These Stars multiplayer or co-op?

Steam and the Microsoft/Xbox PC listing both specify single player. No official co-op mode is listed.

Can I play it on an Xbox console?

The Microsoft/Xbox store entry checked on 19 October 2026 says Play with PC and PC only Ultimate. That is not an Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One release; the publisher launch list names PC stores and PC Game Pass.

Is the game free?

No. The list price in the launch note is $29.99. A free demo exists as a separate Steam app. PC Game Pass access requires an eligible paid subscription and is not a free full-game license.

Was there Early Access?

The studio announced in March 2026 that it would skip Early Access, then shipped 1.0 on 16 October 2026. The press kit dates the public demo to 11 June 2024, while the Steam demo API lists 30 May 2024; these are distinct official date records.

Does the demo save carry over?

No. Hooded Horse’s pinned FAQ says a demo save cannot be loaded in 1.0.

Is it on PS5, Switch, or Mac?

The launch platform list does not include them. Steam reports mac: false. That is “not announced,” not a promise that a port is impossible.

Is there Chinese?

Simplified and Traditional Chinese have interface and subtitles. Full voice-over is English only.

How long is the game?

No official length is published. I am not estimating hours.
