Source: Cleaner on the official community wiki; power requirement table and pollution reference. These are documented wiki values, not measured throughput. Task duration is not units per second; staffing, hauling and active methods affect production. Conflicting source fields are labeled rather than resolved by guessing.

The Cleaner’s job is the pollution that has not yet become a Toxic Area. The official FAQ says you must enable its production method; players describe the soot-and-water option as starting unchecked. A tile at high pollution for 15 minutes is no longer this building’s job — that is the Toxic Tile Scraper. The symptom checklist, including stuck placement, is the fix page, not a second copy of the rules.

  • Input is soot. The burner and the ore smelter are the sources I will name. Cycle times are not official.
  • The Pollution System discussion contains differing reports about soot-and-water methods. Read the active Work method rather than treating one player’s inputs or radius as universal.
  • In Polluted Riverbed, Solutions?, players report missed underwater tiles and suggest a nearby tree. The developer-marked answer supports that workaround, not a general guarantee.
  • Connect the road, fill all worker slots inside housing range, and inspect resource warnings. Do not infer an undocumented Cleaner waste output from the general by-product rule.

Construction cost and task times are documented in the wiki reference above, not measured in-game here. Its unlock fields conflict: the infobox names Chemical Factory, while the prose says 50 Soot from the Burner Generator. The official FAQ distinguishes early Cleaners from toxic-tile scrapers; the wiki describes later Chemical cleaning for toxic ground. Do not apply that later method to the starter Soot-and-Water task or assume the listed task durations specify cleanup per cycle.
